At least 3 children are confirmed dead and 50 others seriously ill of cholera outbreak in Buale town, middle Jubba region. Cholera broke out 3 days ago in Buale town in middle Jubba under Alshabab administration. According to a local medical staff in Buale town who requested anonymity said that lack of optimum medical care deteriorated the break out of the cholera disease which so far left 2 children dead and dozens under serious illness.

He said that lack of medical supplies into the town is worsening the medical condition of the children and other people in the region since the town is under the control of shabab militants. The death toll is feared to increase if the medical situation continues like this, he added.

Baule general hospital in Baule town has been a military base for the militants since their seizure of the town 3 years back.

A cholera outbreak in Alamada town, Cotabato province, where at least 8 people died after showing symptoms, was confirmed Friday afternoon, 16 May 2014, by the province Governor Lala Mendoza. Mendoza said that the outbreak was confirmed after samples from the town were tested. Mendoza said the tests had included chemical, bacteriological for water, and rectal swabs.

According to a separate report from GMA News stringer Garry Fuerzas, health officer Dr. Rosario Bandala said they examined more than 700 patients. Of these, 438 tested positive for _Vibrio cholerae_. Figures from the Alamada Municipal Health Office showed 769 were brought to hospitals or clinics, with 438 testing positive for _Vibrio cholerae_.

The governor said the Department of Health, the provincial government and Alamada local government unit were "now taking intervention to control this outbreak." Alamada Municipal Administrator Robin Cadava said a state of calamity, which was 1st declared last Wednesday, 14 May 2014, would remain over Alamada until the patients recover. The state of calamity allows the local government to use its calamity fund.

Sample test of stool of patients thought to be suffering from diarrhea in Rautahat district [Central Region] has confirmed the disease to be cholera instead.

After the District Health Office failed to do anything about the fast spreading problem in the region, a special team of doctors had been deployed to identify the illness. National Public Health Laboratory has confirmed the disease as cholera.

People had started to fall sick with the symptoms of diarrhea since the past 4 weeks in Gaidatar village of Rautahat. A team of 4 doctors led by Dr Pranil Man Singh Pradhan had taken stool sample of the patients 3 weeks ago, result of which was revealed on Thursday, 15 May 2014. The team was deployed by the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division and Patan Health-Science Academy.

According to Dr Subash Chaudhary of the District Health Office, doctors had taken stool of 7 people for sample test. "It has been confirmed that that was not just diarrhea but cholera," he said.

In the village, 435 people have been complaining about gastroenteritis complications over the recent weeks. Govinda Timilsina, operator of a local 'Timilsina Clinic' in Rautahat said that the disease in spreading fast despite efforts made to control it. "10 new patients were added only on Thursday [15 May 2014]," he said.

Last time cholera was detected in the village was 5 years ago, and it had claimed the lives of 2 and affected over 100 people.
